Matthew Compton

Architect, Development

Matthew brings over two decades of experience in design and construction to Cross Street Partners. As a licensed architect, he utilizes the skills developed during that period to link and implement the activities and goals of the Construction, Development, and Property Management teams. His problem-solving abilities combine with his vision for placemaking and deep understanding of the construction process to conceptualize, organize, and advance many varied projects for both Cross Street Partners, internally, and their outside partners.

Prior to joining Cross Street Partners, Matthew practiced architecture for over 20 years and was founder of Foundry Architects, an award-winning firm in the Baltimore/Washington DC region focusing on a wide range of project types, including adaptive reuse, historic rehabilitation, retail, food & beverage and housing.

Outside of work, Matthew is a member of the Executive Committee on the Board of Directors for Baltimore Heritage and served on the Board for the Charles Village Civic Association. He has been a guest juror for Morgan State University’s School of Architecture and Planning on multiple occasions and has provided pro bono design services for the Neighborhood Design Center. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Mississippi State University.
