The Centre Theatre
After sitting vacant for more than 25 years, the historic Centre Theatre has been transformed into one of the most dynamic buildings in Baltimore’s Station North Arts & Entertainment District.
Today, The Centre Theatre is home to a diverse mix of mission-driven organizations spanning arts education, film, nonprofit collaboration, housing, and community development — creating a shared environment rooted in creativity, opportunity, and impact.

Project History
What is now the Centre Theatre was constructed in 1913 as a two-story automobile dealership and later converted into a 1,000 seat movie theater and home to the WFBR-AM radio studio in the 1930’s. After the theater’s closure in 1959, the iconic building was converted into a church and offices, before closing in the late 1980s. When Jubilee Baltimore and their partners acquired the building in 2013, the building had been abandoned for over twenty years, and was in a state of disrepair.
Today, the $19 MM redevelopment has reimagined the theater at 10 East North Avenue as a vibrant hub for arts, education, and innovation. A key addition to the Station North Arts & Entertainment District, the flexible building design accommodates a variety of tenants, including a new Film Center for the Maryland Institute College of Art, Johns Hopkins University, Impact Hub, Central Baltimore Partnership, Baltimore Jewelry Center, and Neighborhood Housing Services.
Our Role
Cross Street Partners serves as the property manager and accountant for AREA 405, leading day-to-day operations, tenant engagement, and strategic oversight to support a well-operated, mission-driven environment.
