Printing Opportunity in East Baltimore

From 1900 – 1981,  A. Hoen & Co operated the longest-running lithography in the nation, printing National Geographic magazine, major league baseball cards, cigar boxes, and countless diplomas. The Campus employed hundreds of East Baltimore residents, many of whom lived on the surrounding blocks. In a cycle that is not uncommon for America’s post-industrial cities, when the factory closed, the jobs disappeared, local vacancies increased, and the property fell into a state of disrepair and blight.

When Cross Street Partners and City Life Historic Properties responded to a Baltimore City Vacants to Value RFP to purchase the former Hoen & Co in 2014, the directive from the community was clear: bring job opportunities back and the neighborhood will follow.
