Bringing a Boys & Girls Club to Cambridge
The Boys & Girls Club at Mace’s Lane will accommodate more than 150 youth members daily in a state-of-the-art facility which will feature a gymnasium, tech lab, games room, STEM Center, and classrooms. The Mace’s Lane Club will more than double the number of seats available to youth, all at no cost to their families. The stand-alone facility will feature several mission-oriented after-school spaces including a gymnasium, tech lab, games room, STEM Center and classrooms.
The facility will honor the legacy of Mace’s Lane High School, an all-African American student high school which served the Cambridge community until the county was forced to integrate its schools in 1969. In addition to the Boys & Girls Club, the facility will house a museum and cultural center that honors the region’s African American history managed by the Mace’s Lane Community Center (MLCC).
Our Advisory Role
Cross Street Partners was engaged to support Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Baltimore in stewarding the rehabilitation of Mace’s Lane as Development Consultant and Owner’s Representative. Our Development Advisors structured a $12MM New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) transaction, a key component in completing the project’s capital stack, which includes grant funding, state and federal historic tax credits, and bridge debt. By leveraging NMTC financing alongside other public and private capital, CSP is helping to close critical gaps and ensure the project’s financial viability – positioning the project to deliver a high-impact facility in a severely distressed community.
As Owner’s Representative, Cross Street works with Bancroft Construction to advance BGCMB’s vision for their flagship Eastern Shore Club.
